Concert Dress

For cathedral concerts the following is required:
Men: black suit or DJ, white shirt, black bowtie, black shoes.
Women: formal black trousers or skirt at least ankle length – black long or 3/4 sleeved upper clothing – enclosed black shoes.
Jewellery should be very discreet, and no other colours should be worn.
The aim is to present a formal, unified look and to minimise distraction.

For less formal events (like the summer concert) the following is required:
Men: black trousers, white shirts, bright ties, black shoes -(no jackets).
Women: formal black trousers or skirt at least ankle length, a plain brightly coloured shirt with long or 3/4 length sleeves, black shoes.
Jewellery should be discreet.

There are occasions when these requirements may be varied to suit circumstances e.g. when singing with other choirs. The choir members will always be fully informed.

Hired Music
  1. Those wanting to hire scores will be able to do so for a non-refundable charge of £10 for all the copies  or £2 if you are only hiring Messiah.
  2. All members, including students not appointed Choral Scholars, are to pay the full amount for a hire score.
  3. The Librarian & Treasurer are to be informed when online payment has been made by email so that their records can be compared and kept updated: Treasurer.lincolnchoralsociety@gmail.com and librarianlincolnchoralsociety@gmail.com
  1. No hire scores to be handed out without names, contact details and amount recorded by the Librarian or her helpmate.
  2. Any marking of hired scores to be made lightly with a soft (B rated) pencil and erased before return please. We are fined for the return of marked copies!
  3. Hired scores should be returned to the designated boxes after concerts.
  4. Hire payment can only be made by cheque made out to Lincoln Choral Society, by credit or debit card, or by bank transfer  Payee: Bank: Lloyds; a/c no: 75115068; sort code: 30 92 93. Please label transfers indicating which score is being hired and your name.
  5. If payment by the given methods is a problem, please speak to or email the Librarian (in confidence if preferred.)

It is the responsibility of any member who hires music through the choir to return it immediately after the concert in a condition as good as or better than it was received. We have an obligation to care for the copies we hire. The use of highlighters, dropping music in puddles or getting coffee stains on it is likely to make the music library very unhappy indeed and we need to maintain good relations to get the best service from them.

This is important. The Society is charged £10 per book that needs to be cleaned up. Any charges incurred in this manner will have to be paid for by the member responsible.
Please, only mark hired copies minimally, with a soft pencil, which can then be removed easily.
