Welcome to Lincoln Choral Society

Lincoln Choral Society is a 100-strong mixed choir. We are Lincoln's largest choral group and our aim is to give our audiences a wonderful musical experience, drawing on local, national and international musical talents, all in the magnificent setting of Lincoln Cathedral. New Musical Director
We are delighted to welcome Mark Wilde as our Musical Director. Mark is a musician of national and international repute. He performs widely as a tenor as well as teaching at the Royal Academy of Music, London and lecturing at the University of Lincoln. Our former musical director, Neville Turner retired this summer (2017); However, he has graciously accepted the position of Conductor Emeritus with the choir.


The next LCS concert is on Saturday 4th November 2017. We shall be performing Haydn's 'Mass in Time of War',Elgar's 'Spirit of England' and Finzi's 'Farewell to Arms' in Lincoln Cathedral, accompanied by Lincolnshire Chamber Orchestra. Please click in the panel to the right for more information.

Members of LCS will be travelling to Neustadt in November 2017 to help celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Neustadt Liedertafel. Verdi's Requiem will be performed by the Liedertafel, LCS and Cantoria Maĉon.

A performance of Britten's War Requiem is scheduled for 3rd November 2018 as part of our First World War Centenary commemoration. At present, the performance will feature not only Lincoln Choral Society, but also Grimsby and Scunthorpe choirs, Louth Choral Society, Gainsborough Choral Society, Lincoln Cathedral Choristers and hopefully Neustadt Liedertafel too! Singers could number 300-400, promising to be quite a spectacle.

Members of Lincoln Choral Society took part in a very exciting concert in January 2016 when they travelled to New York to perform Karl Jenkins' 'The Armed Man -A Mass for Peace' in Carnegie Hall. Details here: LCS at Carnegie Hall.

We present two major concerts most years and smaller ones at Christmas and in the Summer. We are an independent choral group with charitable status and rely to a very great extent on patrons, sponsors and friends for our ongoing viability. There are a number of ways you can support our choral society.

  • March 24th 2018: Bach: St Matthew Passion. This will be performed with Lincoln Cathedral choir.
