LCS at Carnegie Hall
Our invitation to perform in New York came from Dr James M Meaders, member of the Program Development and Education team with Distinguished Concerts International New York (DCINY) in December 2014.
For the January 2016 performances, Sir Karl Jenkins will join DCINY again, this time for a reprise of his beloved 'The Armed Man'. We will be partnering with the Neustadt Liedertafel Choir and the Cantoria Mâcon with whom we sang the Armed Man in Neustadt at the Saalbau festival hall in Germany on their Remembrance day in 2014.
Twenty six of us travelled to New York for a performance of 'The Armed Man -A Mass For Peace' in Carnegie Hall on January 18th 2016, with Jonathan Griffith, DCINY Artistic Director and Principal Conductor and Sir Karl Jenkins, DCINY Composer-in-Residence. The concert details are on the DCINY website:
The Music of Karl Jenkins: A Concert for Peace
So, we have returned from an invitation only "Concert for Peace" where we enjoyed a happy reunion with the Neustadt Liedertafel and Cantoria Mâcon. All the assembled choirs received a standing ovation after an powerful and emotional concert. Sir Karl attended both rehearsals, the concert and the after concert gala dinner.
We also joined with the Liedertafel in an impromptu flashmob style rendition of " Donna Nobis Pacem" in the observatory at The One World Center, the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere.
You will find some photos of the concert here on the website and also on our Facebook page -there is a link at the bottom of this page.
I think it's true to say we all had a wonderful time and a truly memorable experience that was a resounding success in every way. There is an 'official' review of the concert by nyconcertreview.com here.
The following is a letter received by participants from Jonathan Griffith, the Principal Conductor:
